Our children are sacred

Our children are sacred

Raising up our sacred children and youth

Our children are sacred. They belong in the heart of our community, surrounded by the love, teachings and traditions of the Quw’utsun TumuhwCowichan Land. Stsi’elh Stuhw tu Smun’eemHonouring Our Sacred Children and Families stands with families, Elders and community to bring our children home and raise them in strength, belonging and care. Together, we carry this sacred responsibility for every child and youth, in whatever way they need.

A year of coming home

One year ago, Cowichan Tribes took back the care of our children and families. We still have much to do, but already we’ve made big steps, together. Please enjoy this video of our milestones.

Laws of the Cowichan People for Families and Children

Our Law comes from the Quw’utsun MustimuhwCowichan People. It was passed by consensus in 2024. It is based on Quw’utsun Snuw’uy’ulh and shaped by the leadership of Chief and Council, the wisdom of our Sul-hween and the voices of our people.
